Weekly Cats #2: 26 – 31 July 2021

Welp, my plan to share five pieces of media about my cats weekly is off to a bad start. This week, I only have 3 pieces of media to share instead of 5. There’s a happier reason for it. I received my 2nd covid vaccination last Saturday. It gave me a fever, lethargy and body aches that weekend so I didn’t want to do anything except hole up in bed. As a result, I only had time to work on 3 pieces of media (one of them is just a throwback too). I guess that’s better than nothing. I’m trying to achieve a good balance between staying disciplined, and letting go of my expectations if I really don’t feel up to it. It’s so easy to slip back into procrastination mode and not doing anything if I’m too soft on myself. At the same time, I strongly believe that blogging and creating are only meaningful endeavours when done in a willing mood.

Let’s see what I’ve got this week.

Here’s my submission to Pets Club’s Ambassador Hunt. I never knew this, but they carry Aatas Cat Supreme Gold dry food, which I add in copious amounts to the mixed feed that I give to my community cats daily. They adore the ikan bilis flavour, and I like that it doesn’t come in weird colours which is the most obvious sign of poor quality. When I started my Instagram account for my cats, I never thought about making them “petfluencers” (pet influencers). My goal has always been to get as much free food as I can for them (oops. Feeding cats doesn’t come cheap!). As a bonus, I get to show that regular street cats too are worthy of being “meowdels” alongside their pedigree counterparts. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, with Fuzzy randomly looking up at the meowdel, and the caption popping into my head when I saw that. I do hope my cats are selected, but even if they don’t, at least I tried.

When choosing arm chairs, it’s important to choose one that’s large enough to accommodate you and your cat. Crooktail isn’t much of a lap cat, but she enjoys snuggling next to her favourite hooman aka my mum. Just look at her blinking lovingly!

“It’s important to stay well-groomed, even when there’s nowhere to go. Yet another quiet evening falls over Singapore’s Kallang Basin outside the window.”

Last year in May, many countries were in some sort of lockdown due to the Coronavirus, including Singapore. Our Circuit Breaker lasted from 7 April 2020 to 1 June 2020. BBC In Pictures had a theme ‘the view from my window’ for which they invited readers to submit pictures. I’ve always loved the view from my window and wanted to try. My view gave me an unblocked view of the train track and highway. They were a lot quieter during the circuit breaker period, and I thought it’d be good to capture that. While I was taking pictures, Fuzzy came along, plonked herself down in front and started grooming herself. I thought that was hilarious, and I sent a picture of her with the caption, along with window view pictures I’d taken earlier. Imagine my surprise when Fuzzy’s picture was chosen, and even used as the featured image!

There are 2 other pet pictures, so I think the editor must be an animal lover! Regardless, I love BBC, and it’s such an honour to have my picture chosen.

That’s it for this week. Till next time!
